Writing Articles Is Rewarding and Sometimes Profitable

Writing Articles Is Rewarding and Sometimes Profitable

This is your first article. What can you share? Every one of us has unique experiences, interests, and perceptions that just may touch the hearts of your readers.

The content is important surely, but do you know the tricks of formatting your article for web-readers? As a previous reviewer for a well-known article publisher, the following may help you get organized and published!

Keep your paragraphs short. A one paragraph article is very hard to read online. When the words blur together in one long chunk of thoughts, well you've just lost your audience. Similarly, one-sentence paragraphs require too much scrolling to keep your readers' interest. Try 3-4 sentences in a paragraph and then separate with a single white space line.

Write out your musings, then go back and make these corrections dear writer:

  • Longer titles are more interesting than 1-3 word titles.
  • Leading the article with a question can be done as long as it doesn't sound like a duplicate title or a subhead (no-no: "Introduction" or repeating the title as the first line of the article)
  • Use spell and grammar checks; most web-readers are at a 10th grade reading level; but publishers will not waste time correcting incoherent sentences.
  • Keep your articles informative and leave the advertising to your bio or resource; remember the old adage "Content Is King"?
  • Make your profile POP! When people enjoy your article they will want to find out more about you and whatever you may be selling. A call to action belongs here not in the article. (no-no: "Contact me with any questions")
Have fun! Smile when you write (like a caller who can hear the smile when you speak;) The freedom of speech is a valuable gift we can use to help others. Make your world a better place.
